This is so awesome! The world works in mysterious ways, that's for sure.
I related so much to nearly everything you said about trying to live even a mediocre life in America. I Canadian and we have the same problem up here. NOTHING is affordable anymore, especially for single income people with dogs.
Thanks Kristi! This house is a little rough but compared to the one that another lady showed me with no roof, no doors and no windows (?!) funny...it's a big improvement. Plenty of Canadians down in Mexico for sure! We'll leave the light on for ya! (probably would want a better town than where I currently am...not many come here on PURPOSE) but I chat with expats who have left for good not just snowbirds. But everyone walking around with their worldly possessions in a sack and doing #vanlife is for the birds! The great real estate migration continues.
That's the kind of experience I live for lol. It sounds stupid but I used to go to those kind of places "on purpose" just to write a good story. I've lived in Jamaica a couple of times and it can be as rough as some of the things you've described but I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything!
Truth! I think I'm ruined for returning to "civilization" though I'd love a new pair of PANTS and some parmesan cheese and unscented toilet paper but at what cost?

I'm happy for you that this house found you!
