I got all prepped for societal collapse too. I think I had the same realization you had - if society really does collapse, people with guns will take all my stuff and step over my lifeless body. So I moved on, embracing the knowledge that I'd be one of the countless starving. Nothing lasts forever. Mexico has its share of problems, but the overwhelming sense of doom doesn't seem to grow here to well. Adios, muchachos.
I know right?! A real gift for managing expectations in Mexico. As in, none. I do not want to live in a place where I'm hoarding ammo to protect my tinned sardines. I put my efforts into knowing which plants and or essential oils/mushrooms/gas leak would off me quicker. Starving could take a minute. I have the Plan B Closet instead of the Prepper Pantry. I heard an old guy once respond to "How are ya Frank?" with "I've stopped buying green bananas, I'll tell ya that!" and it made the world fall into place.
