I haven’t been writing because I feel like everything adds to the noise or sounds trivial in light of weekly hurricanes, landslides and war which I have none of here. Lucky! And I don’t want to ruminate on the cud of the power that goes off when it’s 98 degrees and how it’s kind of STILL 98 degrees in October and how the water was off because the pump didn’t have enough pressure because there’s dwindling water in the pueblo in the desert which is frankly no shock to me or anyone. And it seems obvious that I’m hot, sweaty, taking bird baths in collected AC water when it’s on and feeling like I’m camping. And I hate camping.
But I want to give good news. I don’t think we can absorb more of the other. Surely we all have something. No matter how small, I believe that you’re allowed to have small celebratory wins and feel okay about a day. Even big wins! I’ve seen some really cool photos that folks I know are taking in Southern France where they are eating cheese. There’s no shame in that. I don’t think we all collectively have to feel like the slug on the sidewalk to make the world go ‘round. Even if the 4th horseman of the Apocalypse is at your Ring camera right now with a pizza…let’s ask him about his day.
*Speaking of pizza I ordered one here! There’s a new (to me) place. A clandestine in house delivery that the plumber/carpenter/grocery moto guy told me about. It was totally fine! here in 30 minutes! I just sent a text and they knew where I was already. It was $8 and I would order again. Pizzeria Danny. No sign, no sticker, no branding, nada.
*Speaking of delivery, I got a delivery from Amazon from our wishlist for the dogs from Melissa Libby Associates in Atlanta. It came on a courier service that is new-ish and used to do fish but now has expanded to packages. There’s a charge but it’s not bad. It’s a big deal as we don’t have any sort of delivery here. She sent us a big dog crate that I can use for the next Spay-A-Palooza and several great quality slip leads with reflector tape so we can be seen at night if I go out (rare) but it gets dark at 6 so maybe so. Thank you!
* Speaking of Spay-A-Palooza I booked the rockstar vet to come from Hermosillo again for another clinic in my house October 26. I have to get my three botched spays redone so they can stop having heat every cycle and tiny Teddy and StreetSpaghetti and Goofy and Dingo all on my block the last two who had litters this week. 10 and 5 puppies so far. It’s unreal. I’m not going to do 35 this time, it’s too much. But something is better than nothing. A generous friend and donor has agreed to sponsor what I can’t raise for his guarantee remote price of $650. I’m trapping three from the street and doing four that I have already. Anything else will be neighbors.
*Speaking of generous, the carpenter/plumbing handy/grocery delivery guy is a reliable person who knows a lot of stuff. I love a project buddy and he’s up for my requests. He fixed my hose that was leaking all over the place without me asking kind of guy. Returned my money because the landlord paid him to replace the pump kind of guy. (I made him take it, there is always something I said) and he is from Oaxaca and not Sonora so I understand his dialect. A big win!
*Today is Monday and they had meaty bones at the store, AVOCADOS were back in stock for the first time in 2 months. I have water and lights and internet all at the same time and I got Andie the feral mama to take a Nexgard for ticks without spitting it out.
That’s all for now I don’t want to blow your minds with excitement. Holding good vibrations for all of our Florida friends and hoping everyone will be made whole from the previous storms. Godspeed.
Pizza, dog crates, reflective leashes, avocados and water. You are having a moment, Lola. October is clearly your month. Good luck with the Spay-A-Palooza - wish I could be there because it sounds a lot more entertaining than what I have planned for October 26th.
