A couple dogs got accepted to go to a fancy mall adoption center in Tucson. Yay! Niles and Frasier the smallest and most flexible to change are confirmed Sept 23. It was the 16th but I reminded the Mexicans that it was MX independence day and they won’t be able to rent a car. Ay yi yi they remembered.
Americans are, and myself exponentially so, clock watchers and calendar havers. I couldn’t find a calendar/agenda book until some lady went to Phoenix and brought me back one from Ross. They may use their phones but from what I’ve seen some write stuff down in a steno pad or remember in their heads…but the phone is for tiktok and selling tamales on WhatsApp.
I have to just trust that it’ll all go great. A portal is opening up for me finally where I feel like some options are presenting. An affordable pet friendly Airbnb in Southern AZ, some options for moving out of here…it may take a few moves to get us where we need to be but OUT of the quicksand sometimes is the first step.
Some dynamic, committed rescuers and people who understand the mission makes me see a shred of hope and light. Before he died my brother said, ‘Remember the light at the end of the tunnel is a 500lb gorilla with a flashlight.’
And I say fine. As long as he has a van and can haul us out of here.
Here’s me walking around at 7:15pm on a Friday night looking for food. I can’t imagine what the contractors who have been dumped here are eating. But like the rest of us it’s probablyTaki Chips and Topo Chico water.
I headed home and made some zucchini with butter and garlic. For anyone who used to say they didn’t want to cook for me because I was such a foodie and a chef, the gloves are off and the bar is very low.
